This is a popular quastion within the media when ever the issue is under analysis, however, so far we are yet to witness a real answer. Every single commander, prime minister and politician has failed to tell where this operation is going, no real goal is set, no real expcted results. Many say however, getting the pegion in is alot harder then letting out, this means that if we as a nation dip our feet in the very expenaive mud, then our boots are most likley stuck, if the nations invloved fail to leave quickly, i.e. in less then 3-4 months, it will result in shattering dreams of the libyan people and perhaps even turning thier guns on the foregin forces.
This opertion has a bill of $300m dollars so far with around $50-70m expected to be spent everyday, now, this is not cheap, who is gunna pay for this? three letter word O-I-L.
I do hope im wrong about this, but i think the public is not naive enough to belive that a country such as the UK who are in deep crisis are about to donate that amount of money for the sake of Libya.
Libya only has 2% of the worlds oli, thats not much right? but BP has invested £15 BILLION in libya and after the threat gaddafi made that he will make deals with India and China and ignore the western interset, it has got us or at least the goverment biting thier lips, this can be vital for the economic recovery, if we are not in it to import the oil our selfs, then at least and hopefuly we are in it to keep our fare business going.
Geography plays and important role too, italy, france and perhaps spain are very intersted and the same time worried as Libya can become an Al-Qaida strong hold and a pouring shower of illigeal imgrants, this surely was anther motive as it can potantionaly save the EU as a whole millions if not billions of Euros.
Im one of the supporters of the no-fly zone and systimatic bombing to save civilan life, however, lets all hope it ends safely and happly.
